ICBC Coverage after a Motor Vehicle Accident After a motor vehicle accident (MVA) many people experience whiplash, headaches, neck, back, extremity, and recurrent pain. They may also experience changes in their mental health. If you were involved in an MVA and have reported the incident to ICBC, you qualify for care with Dr. Wagner covered by ICBC until you have reached post-accident health status. (As of April 1, 2019, individuals who have been in a car accident no longer need pre-approval from ICBC for their healthcare treatments as long as they have an ICBC claim number)

What is Ergonomics?
Ergonomics is defined as the study of how people work in their environment. An example of ergonomics is a study of how people who primarily sit in their offices get work-related back injuries.

Why is it important?
Ergonomics is important because when you’re doing a job and your body is stressed by an awkward posture, extreme temperature, or repeated movement your musculoskeletal system is affected. Implementing ergonomic solutions can make employees more comfortable and increase productivity.

Compression therapy increases circulation and helps you maintain your full range of motion, leaving you feeling fresh and limber. Normatec’s compression boots use cyclic chamber-based compression to help your body mobilize and metabolize metabolic waste products including lactic acid. Don’t take a week off after leg day. Help yourself. Unlock your next level.

What is joint manipulation?
Joint manipulation is a type of passive movement of a skeletal joint. It is usually aimed at one or more ‘target’ synovial joints with the aim of achieving a therapeutic effect.

Clinical effects and mechanisms of action:

  • Temporary relief of musculoskeletal pain
  • Shortened time to recover from acute back sprains
  • Temporary increase in passive range of motion (ROM)
  • Physiological effects on the central nervous system
  • No alteration of the position of the sacroiliac joint

What is soft tissue therapy?

  • Soft tissue therapies are mechanical forms of therapy where soft-tissue structures are pressed and kneaded, using physical contact with the hand or a mechanical device.
  • The principal aim of soft tissue therapy is to relieve pain and inflammation, prevent further injury, reduce spasm, correct abnormal postures, and improve circulation.
  • Soft tissue therapy helps increase local blood flow and recovery—helping to clear damaged cells, supply tissues with oxygen and nutrients, as well as assist in tissue healing.
  • This hands-on therapy is a specialized approach to help relieve pain, decrease stiffness and dysfunction, as well as improve the affected area’s range of motion.
  • Licensed healthcare professionals who typically provide soft tissue therapy include chiropractors, massage therapists, occupational therapists, and physical therapists.

A systematic review of the literature found that there is evidence that manual therapies are useful in the short-term relief of trigger point pain. Discussing the various techniques and benefits with your chiropractor is a great way to decide if soft tissue therapy is a good fit for you.
