At TWIST we help the athletes from beginner to pro and we know some of the questions you may have when you are just starting out. Here are few questions we get asked about our programs from people new to fitness:
TWIST’s small group training classes (think team training) are geared towards men and women of any age or fitness level, with a 1:10 coach to client ratio. We keep it small so we can keep an eye on everyone in the group, ensuring each participant is challenged appropriate to their abilities and needs; which has the same effectiveness of a personal training session but at a fraction of the cost.
It’s important to us that all of our clients are provided with personalized attention = to maximize results, minimize injury and connect mind with movement using Smart Muscle ™ paradigm.

Our doors are wide open for EVERYONE of all fitness levels who are interested in learning how to utilize the beautiful machine that is the human body. Our focus here is on Functional Training – which are exercises that allow you to perform the activities of daily life more easily and without injuries, which is why this training method is favoured by professional athletes, Olympians and is predominantly used for active rehabilitation.
This isn’t an aerobics class involving choreography = think ‘team training’, where you are performing exercises with others in a group setting. The purpose behind our coaching philosophy is to improve your coordination, balance, stamina, flexibility, aid in healing old injuries, and give you abilities you might not have had before.
The principle of functional training is to train your body in a way that allows you to perform daily activities on a higher performance level. That means anything from making bending down to tie your shoes easier or running up the stairs quicker to having more stamina on the ice or hitting the ball further. Having a new client come to us with zero balance is actually quite exciting for us because you will notice how quickly this improves after only a few sessions.
Fear of the unknown is completely normal and we understand this concept here at TWIST, on a very deep level. It’s also why we offer personal training sessions with our High Performance Coaches, so we can work with you one-on-one and teach you proper form and execution.
All of our coaches are extremely qualified and carry university degrees in a variety of disciplines which can include injury rehabilitation to training high performance athletes. We become coaches because we truly love the human body and understand intimately that no two bodies come to us in the same condition. It’s part of why we have all dedicated so much time into studying it. The best part about our line of work is taking a client, at any fitness level, and watching them reach/exceed their own personal milestones.
