SERVICES
Physiotherapy involves the assessment and treatment of various injuries to muscles, bones, ligaments, nerves and joints. The goal is to restore, maintain and maximize a patients function and well being.
Physiotherapy at Accelerate is done differently. When you book an appointment with us, you are with your Physiotherapist for your entire treatment session. On your first appointment, we will take a detailed history of your presenting issue followed by an in-depth assessment.
The SFMA assessment is a movement based diagnostic system which systematically finds the cause of pain – not just the source – by logically breaking down dysfunctional movement patterns in a structured, repeatable assessment.
This system allows us to help differentiate whether a patient’s issue is coming from an issue with mobility or an issue with strength. Once a diagnosis has been made, we can then focus our treatment to get you out of pain and back to doing the things you love!
Gunn IMS is a total system for the diagnosis and treatment of persistent myofascial pain syndromes including muscle, joint, tendon, burial, fascial, neural, and biomechanical problems. The approach, using intramuscular needling, is based on the neuropathic model developed by Dr. C. Chan Gunn. This model looks at the whole body, not just the isolated areas of pain and considers dysfunction in the nervous system as the cause of persistent myofascial dysfunction and pain. Treatment typically involves the insertion of small needles (acupuncture needles) to various regions of the body to assist in restoring normal function of the body.
Acupuncture involves the insertion of small needles to various points on the body (Acupuncture points) to assist in treating pain and stimulate healing. Kevin has taken numerous courses in Dry Needling over his career and as a result has established a very gentle and effective technique. These techniques are typically quite effective for chronic muscle/joint pains that have previously not responded to other treatments.
These can involve soft tissue massage, static or dynamic stretching and myofascial cupping. These techniques are typically part of an overall treatment program to assist a patient in moving better in order to get them back to the activities they enjoy.
Physiotherapy exercises don’t always have to be boring and daunting. For most patients, a few simple exercises done regularly throughout their day can be enough to help alleviate or minimize their pain levels.
After a comprehensive assessment at Accelerate Physiotherapy, we will be able to provide focussed exercises to address your presenting issues. Exercises can be as simple as a couple of chair-based stretches at work, to strength and conditioning programs after surgeries
At Accelerate Physiotherapy, you are with your Physiotherapist for your entire session which allows us to ensure that your exercises are performed safely and correctly in order to maximize treatment results.
