Here the Deadbug is taken up a notch by the addition of the ballast stability ball.⁠

The deadbug is an excellent exercise for everyone to learn how to engage their core musculature - internal/external obliques, rectus abdominus, and transverse abdominus.⁠

Adding the stability ball increases core and spinal stability and the ballast creates an added challenge as you need to recruit more stabilizer muscles to keep it in place as you move through the exercise.⁠

The Intro to Olympic Lifting workshop at TWIST TriCities is coming up on May 23 & May 30. ⁠

Session one covers how to warm up/prep the right way for Olympic lifts, the DB snatch and it`s variations and also introduces Jump Training (and how it differs from plyometrics).⁠

The Inverted Row is a great upper body exercise for all fitness levels - from the complete beginner to the advanced lifter.⁠

It will add strength and muscle mass to the back, biceps & forearms, strengthen your core as well as your grip strength.⁠

It`s bodyweight which means you can do more reps for time under tension. You can also vary the strength demands by walking your feet under the bar more, bending your knees to 90 or propping your feet up on a bench.⁠

It`s also a great bridging exercise to prepare you for a full pull up or chin up if you struggle with those.⁠

These hockey athletes had an excellent first month of training in the Spring Hockey camp!

Phase 1’s focus was on Hypertrophy and key teaching elements included Level 1 spring mechanics, all of the basic compound lifts, front squat with depth, hip mobility and ankle/foot strength.

Going into Phase 2, confidence levels are high, movement patterns, technique and common mobility issues are all improved.
